The German pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim, announced Thursday the appointment of Dr. Bachir Batel as General Manager of the company and Head of Human Pharma in Algeria, we learned in a statement of the Group.
According to the statement of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Regional Managing Director for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region, “Boehringer Ingelheim is committed to working with local experts in a unique and flourishing market such as Algeria, to develop its business to meet the demands of local health care. Algeria is considered a health care hub for North African countries in Boehringer Ingelheim and is one of the key markets for the company in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region as a whole, “the statement said.
Of note, Dr. Batel served as Director of Innovative Health at Pfizer, Algeria, where he oversaw numerous activities in many areas such as oncology, vaccines, inflammation and rare diseases. He was also Acino Pharma’s Head of North Africa Cluster, where he set up a new business model in the Maghreb region focused on improving business and results. From 2011 to 2015, he was responsible for setting up Takeda operations in the region, with successful registration product launches and development of team members.
